Codeberg is a hosted Git platform run by Codeberg e.V., a registered non-profit association (eingetragener Verein) based in Berlin, Germany. It runs on Forgejo, an open-source fork of Gitea, and gives any developer free hosting for public and private repositories, issue tracking, and CI pipelines via Woodpecker CI or Forgejo Actions.

Because it is a membership- and donation-funded non-profit rather than a venture-backed company, Codeberg has no advertising or data-resale business model and keeps its infrastructure on servers within the EU. It has grown into one of the largest community-run alternatives to GitHub, hosting several hundred thousand repositories.
