Framagit

Framagit is a public GitLab Community Edition instance operated by Framasoft, a French non-profit association (loi 1901) headquartered in Lyon. It gives any developer a free account to host public or private repositories, track issues, and manage merge requests, with new sign-ups subject to light manual moderation to control spam.

The service is part of Framasoft’s broader “Dégooglisons Internet” initiative, which builds non-commercial alternatives to mainstream tech platforms. Because it runs stock GitLab CE rather than custom software, its feature set closely resembles GitLab.com but sits under a French non-profit’s data policies instead of a US public company’s.

It suits smaller open-source and civic-tech projects looking for an EU-based, non-commercial Git host.
