Mollie
π³π±Dutch e-money institution with a developer-friendly payments API covering cards, iDEAL, SEPA, and Bancontact for European merchants.
Mollie is a payment service provider operated by Mollie B.V., registered in Amsterdam at Keizersgracht 126 (Dutch Chamber of Commerce number 30204462). It started in 2004 as a small Dutch payments outfit and now serves merchants across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, and the UK.
Its main draw for developers is the API: a single integration covers cards, iDEAL, Bancontact, SEPA direct debit, and other local European methods that Stripe and PayPal support unevenly or price as add-ons. Pricing is per transaction with no monthly platform fee, which suits smaller merchants and marketplaces.
Mollie B.V. is licensed by De Nederlandsche Bank as an electronic money institution (register reference F0038), and customer funds are held separately through Stichting Mollie Payments rather than on Mollieβs own balance sheet β so both the regulator and the safeguarding entity are Dutch. Its public web and API endpoints, however, resolve to Google Cloud, so the regulated money-handling is European while part of the serving infrastructure is not.
